UC succeeds at Uni Snow Games

Competitors from the University of Canterbury had a fine week at the Uni Snow Games in Wanaka last week, coming out second on the overall points table behind the University of Otago, but garnering a number of solid wins and placings.

Dominic Campbell triumphed in the Skull Candy Big Air men's ski category, with Cameron Fulton and Sebastian Black taking out second and fifth respectively.

Guy Wilson won the Slopestyle men's ski event, with Black ranking sixth. Campbell took out the Halfpipe ski category for the men, Black coming up second.

Hannah Orchard snagged a number of wins on her snowboard, coming first in the Parallel Slalom, Gravity X, Halfpipe, and Giant Slalom female snowboard categories. Nick Stringer and Lance Cotter placed fourth and fourteenth in the Gravity X men's category. Orchard also took out a second ranking in the Skull Candy Big Air female snowboard results, and a fourth in the Slopestyle snowboard event. Cotter took out a third in the male field of the former category, with Stringer and Cotter placing fourth and seventh respectively in the male field of the latter category. Stringer also placed eighth in the Giant Slalom men's category.

Canterbury had a strong showing in the field for Parallel Slalom male ski, with Campbell placing third, and Matthew Hicks, Fulton, and Black placing fifth equal. There was a similar showing in the Gravity X male ski field, with Fulton placing fourth, Campbell seventh, and Wilson eighth. Campbell, Hicks, Fulton, and Black also had a strong showing in the Giant Slalom ski results.
