Just the ticket with Herbert the Pervert
Why hello there you good looking young boys... oh and girls. Orientation is a ssstupendousss way to start the year. There's more events than you can shake a walking stick at. Concerts, club events, quizzes, orientation markets, plays, buskers, jelly wrestling, and sports where you can show off your muscly throwing arms.
Who are the highlights this year?
SssixSssixty will be ssswell, they're headlining at SSSummer Stein. They'll be supported by Tahuna Breaks, The Thomas Oliver Band, The Babysitters Circus, Batucada Sound Machine and Computers Want Me Dead. That short cute little boy Dai Henwood will be the MC. So that's all at Summer Stein on Saturday the 25th of February, 1-8pm on Ilam Fields.
Then there's the Boys vs Girls: Paint Party where Concord Dawn, Bulletproof, State of Mind and Aural Trash will be playing whilst you get all covered in sticky paint. Sweeeeet Jesus! You don't wanna miss that one, it'll be at the Fake Foundry 2.0 on Thursday the 23rd of February from 7pm til midnight.
And Midnight Youth headline Rock My Toga, which is the opening night concert on Friday the 17th of February from 7 til midnight at the Fake Foundry 2.0. There's also going to be Sleepy Age, Knives At Noon and Cairo Knife Fight, oh and boys if you're struggling to get your togas on... call me.
What should I wear?
A tank top and some of those tight ripped really short jean shorts. Mmmmm. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. And as for girls, you can wear whatever you damn well please.
How much does it cost?
Check out the schedule on page 28 for all the prices. A lot of them are free, or just the price of a couple of bags of sweet and creamy Werthers Originals.
Where can we buy tickets?
Tickets to Rock My Toga, Paint Party: Boys vs Girls, Summer Stein are online ONLY. Check out www.ucsa.org.nz for details.
Tickets to all other Orientation events will be sold at all UCSA cafes:
Alibi, Collective cafe, 1894, Eng Cafe, The Shed and at UCSA reception.
Where are the venues?
- The Fake Foundry 2.0 is near the corner of Ilam Road and Homestead Lane.
- Ilam Fields is opposite the university on Ilam Road.
- For other venues see the campus map on page 6.
Do I need to bring ID to drink?
Yes, you have to bring ID to show you are over 18. If it was up to me I would let boys under 18 in but that's just me. You will need to bring ID to all events at the Fake Foundry 2.0, and Summer Stein on Ilam Fields. All other events don't require ID because they are alcohol free – i.e. No alcohol, not free alcohol.
Any other advice?
- This is the time of year to try out new things and meet new people – like me, I'll be the one in the blue robe with the binoculars.
- If you get sweaty and want to take your shirt off that'd be just fine...
- Remember to wear plenty of sunscreen for the day events; I can rub it into your backs if you want boys. Mmmmmmmmmm
- You don't want to hurt yourself dancing; make sure you stretch out those creamy hamstrings.
- Get INTO it, not OUT of it. That relates to drinking... not clothing. I'm happy for you to get OUT of your clothes, mmmmmmmm. Persons showing any signs of Intoxication will not be allowed entry to UCSA events.
- You better come and have a good time or I'm going to slap you right in your penis.
