Make exercise a part of your day; go for a walk – cleaning also counts!

We’re just about at every student’s favourite time of year: exam time! The good people at UC Student Services have provided us with their top ten tips for making it all a bit easier to deal with…

  • Aim for three meals a day (plus planned snacks) including 5+ fruit and vege.
  • Drink lots of water and minimise caffeine intake, especially at night.
  • Make exercise a part of your day; go for a walk – cleaning also counts!
  • Relax regularly. Try a relaxation CD or yoga. As sleep is the most important relaxation, try to establish a regular sleep routine.
  • There's only two or three days left, but do your best to attend all lectures, tutorials, and revision groups. Prepare a study timetable.
  • Make sure your housemates know when you are studying and come to some arrangement about private space or noise levels.
  • Arrange specific times to study with friends even if they aren't doing the same subjects – and then reward yourself.
  • Attend a Learning Skills Centre Revision and Exam Preparation session, covering the process of preparing for exams and techniques for writing high quality essay answers – with tips for multi-choice and short-answer exams. http://www.lps.canterbury.ac.nz/lsc/lsc-course-LSEX.php
  • Meet with a Student Support or Disability Resource Advisor if you're feeling anxious or overwhelmed – there is support available.
