Oh, hurro! Canta here.
Just wondering if you were interested, amidst the sunburn and beer, in joining our little vagabond team of hunters. Hunters, yes. Here is a checklist just in case you're not sure whether or not you qualify:
Do you not just look at the world through booze-soaked glasses, but want to save what you see and feel any way that you can?
Do you want to talk to rock stars, even ones no one knows about yet?
Do you make any kind of art, and want it published or printed? Fancy designing a magazine cover with charcoal or coloured pencils? Anything goes, so long as it's good, and good is debatable anyways.
Want to roam around, meet flats and take their pictures?
Do you scoff at the news coverage in The Press, or the goings-on of the university and want a place to rant about it? Or even better, correct their weirdness?
Do you like doodling? Drawing cartoons? Comics?
Do you fancy making a crossword puzzle, or trying out new recipes?
How about tagging along to events across the university, the city and even the country for free, so long as one eye remains critical and sober (though that's not entirely necessary)?
If so, you just may be a hunter. Congratulations. Now come find your family.
The Canta crew sniff out the great, the weird and the wonderful and then send it out for free across the university every single week. All in all, it's about the most fun you can have at uni (bouncy castles not included – who invited them anyways?).
If you want to get involved in any kind of way, hit up Canta at this annoyingly long email address – canta@ucsa.canterbury.ac.nz (the editor is working on changing it, promise) or even just waltz into our brand new offices and say hello. We are located along with the rest of the UCSA in the basement of the James Hight Library, in the little narrow hall above the café. Feel free to bring the editor biscuits. She rarely leaves her desk, and thus is often hungry. Vanilla please.
See ya soon, ya crazies.
Hannah xx
