Green Thing

Green Thing

It's that time of year again. The warm drunken haze of O Week is wearing off. Introductory lectures are about to 360 into real lectures.

But all is not lost. Eco-My-Flat is back for another year, and with more upgrades then an iphone, it is looking better than ever – all you need is to be a big fan of free stuff, good times, saving money and the environment. The programme runs throughout the first semester, so all and all it's about the length of Kim Kardashian's marriage – bless her.

First there is an evening of frivolity and some good old fashioned flat-to-flat bonding – see the last page of the magazine for details on that. Next step is a flat audit which you conduct yourself to see how you currently rate on the eco-meter. Then each week there is a workshop, where topics will cover a huge range of themes from transport to home brewing (yes, we're talking home-made beer), cleaning to keeping warm and everything in between. It is the main source of your eco-skills which will provide you with practical easy ways to make your life more sustainable.

So you score some money-saving tips as well as some great free stuff thanks to our sponsors – and who doesn't like free stuff? If you keep us updated via Facebook and YouTube while you take the tips home and make the upgrades, you'll be in the running for some spot prizes that will be up for grabs for impressive online updates. At the end of the semester there is a final audit so you can show of all the good stuff you've done and snag even more prizes. Once it's all over, not only will you be an eco rock star, you may have made a few friends and saved a few bucks along the way. You stay sustainable, Canterbury.
